You and Your Bump

Nothing can be compared to the miracle of new life. After the birth there will likely be many photographs taken of your newborn as they develop but often forgotten is the magical journey that got you there. With our baby bump maternity sessions we look to capture forever part of that journey. Taken usually between 30 and 36 weeks into your pregnancy, we'll photograph you and your gorgeous bump in a session lasting normally around 1 to 2 hours.

Before your shoot we'll have a brief discussion about the photographic style and poses you hope to achieve. Don't worry though, we have plenty of ideas we can run through with you. We'll only include in the session what you're comfortable with and be flexible on the day. We can do shots with just you, you and your partner and even with the whole family. Your bump will be the star in any combination!

We look to create a relaxed atmosphere during the session and will have some fun with different poses that can even include your baby's shoes and scans. We are a husband and wife team and we'll work together to ensure we take a range of photographs for you to choose your favourites from. To show you and your bump looking your best, all images will be professionally edited and retouched. A week or two after the photo shoot we'll arrange an optional viewing and ordering session. This will be your chance to enjoy the photographs we have taken and order prints and products from us.

Our bump photography sessions are priced at £50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you propose the shoot takes place at 30 to 36 weeks into pregnancy?

By 30 weeks you should have a good sized bump to be the focus of your photographs. We recommend no later than 36 weeks so that you are comfortable during the shoot, however we can arrange it later if you are up to it.

What should I wear?

We suggest that you have a few choices of outfit available. For you we recommend light coloured tops without strong patterns, images or writing and darker plain smart jeans, trousers or leggings. For your partner we would recommend a plain shirt or t-shirt and perhaps a solid coloured jumper. Again smart jeans or trousers would be fine. If you will be getting your bump out during the shoot we recommend looser fitting tops and trousers be worn prior to the session so that they do not leave marks on your skin.

Do I have to get my bump out?

It's totally up to you. We believe it's nice to have some photographs with the bump out for you to have as memories and we work hard to light and pose you in a flattering way. If you're concerned about stretch marks don't worry, during editing we can retouch any blemishes for free. But if you prefer not to show the bump then that's okay too. We can work from fully clothed to nude. We have lots of poses for all scenarios and can adapt on the day if you change your mind.

What about my hair and makeup?

We recommend you wear natural looking makeup and have your hair as you prefer. It's worth having a brush with you to tidy up any stray hairs during the session. As we'll be doing some close-ups of your hands on your bump it is also worth making sure your nails are freshly done. Why not consider treating yourself to having your hair and makeup done professionally before the shoot?

What else do I need to bring?

A few personal props are always good, such as your new baby's shoes or a cuddly toy. If you have ultrasound scan images then those also make for some nice photographs.

What retouching do you do?

We will professionally edit each photograph individually to balance colour and detail and can also optionally retouch any stretch marks or blemishes using subtle techniques. We can gently soften the appearance of skin to show you looking at your best. You can decide in advance not to have this done if you prefer.

Can I have black and white photographs?

We shoot in full colour using professional Canon equipment but can process each shot to black and white during editing. We take care to balance the tones in each image for best results and will include black and white versions of photographs for free. You can then decide during your viewing session which you prefer to order.

How do we book?

To make a booking please first contact us by email or phone to check our availability. We can discuss any questions you may have before making the booking.

When do we pay?

To confirm your booking we need full payment of the session fee to reserve the date. This is unfortunately not refundable but as long as we have 48 hours notice we will always endeavour to reschedule as long as we have availability.

Testimonials

Our measure of success is exceeding your expectations.

We are really happy with the photos you have taken. They have captured moments at a special time in our lives that flow with emotion for us. The shoot was comfortable and laid back, we were free to try our own ideas as well as receive recommendations to expand upon them. The pictures are absolutely stunning and perfectly encapsulate our memories.
